Film about The Christmas Truce on December 14th at 7 PM at FUUSE
Friday, December 14th, 7:00 – 9:00 PM: The Christmas Truce of WWI: Film and Discussion with NH Veterans, at the Community Room, First Unitarian Universalist Society of Exeter, 12 Elm St, Exeter NH 03833.

In our world today, we sometimes feel divided and unable to bridge differences.  Come be inspired by a historical instance of connecting against all odds and transcending violence: The Christmas Truce of WWI.

Beginning with a showing of the film "The Christmas Truce."  The film tells a story from WWI. Fighting was most fierce on the Western Front. Trenches separated Allies from Germans, with the area in between known as No Man's Land. On Christmas Eve 1914, an astonishing event began--up and down the Western Front, enemy soldiers met peacefully in No Man's Land. Actor Ioan Gruffud narrates a feature-length look at the event, filled with eyewitness accounts.

Discussion following the film will be led by NH veterans.  Will Thomas was in the navy during the cold war, including the Cuban Missile Crisis.  Will Hopkins served in the National Guard and was deployed to Iraq. He is now the Executive Director of New Hampshire Peace Action.
